PJ Chonburi Parawood Co., Ltd., Thailand’s leading exporter of home goods, is earmarking 150 million Baht to a new green initiative aimed at transforming its operations to meet the rising global demand for sustainable products. The investment will position PJ Wood as a leader in eco-conscious manufacturing, enhancing both operational efficiency and environmental responsibility.
This initiative encompasses the installation of a solar power plant, enabling PJ Wood to transition towards renewable energy and significantly reduce its dependence on conventional energy sources. In addition, the company is integrating cutting-edge German wood filler technology to optimise material usage, minimise waste, and enhance production efficiency. Phase 1 of this investment is projected to lower PJ Wood’s carbon emissions by at least 4,000 tons annually.
“This investment represents a critical shift in our operational strategy as we aim to meet the evolving demands of eco-conscious consumers and retailers,” said Andrew de Jesus, CEO of PJ Wood. “Our focus is not only on efficiency but also on establishing ourselves as a global leader in sustainable manufacturing.”
Focus on Sustainable Growth and Market Expansion
PJ Wood’s green initiative aligns with the sustainability targets of major global retailers, while also reducing operational costs. The company plans to enhance its product offerings, particularly in building materials, with new production lines for kitchen countertops and butcher blocks made from sustainably sourced rubberwood.
“We’re leveraging Thailand’s abundant rubberwood resources to bring eco-friendly products to new markets,” added COO Buse de Jesus. “In addition to our core market which is the U.S., we are exploring opportunities in Australia, the Asia-Pacific region, and the Middle East.”
Operational Efficiency and Corporate Responsibility
PJ Wood’s broader strategy focuses on improving efficiency while maintaining its commitment to corporate social responsibility. The company has set ambitious targets to reduce its carbon footprint and is actively involved in community-driven projects that support local job creation and economic development.
“Our green initiative will lower energy costs and waste while allowing us to contribute positively to the communities we serve,” said Andrew de Jesus.
PJ Wood has been recognised by leading U.S. retailers for its commitment to sustainability, recently earning Thailand’s prestigious Low Carbon Award. With this latest initiative, PJ Wood continues to set new benchmarks for sustainable manufacturing on a global scale. Today, PJ Chonburi Parawood Co., Ltd partners with the world’s leading retailers in both the big-box and e-commerce sectors. The company exports to over 28 countries, producing a diverse range of private-label products—such as tables, stools, housewares, children’s furniture, and building materials—available in more than 10,000 stores worldwide and across major e-commerce platforms.
